Pastor Vicki Garber

Pastor Vicki (or PV if you prefer) is originally from South Dakota. She was educated at Augusta College and then the Illinois College of Optometry and worked for years as an optometrist. Feeling called to the ministry, she attended Trinity Lutheran Seminary and was ordained in 1994. She served as a pastor in the Kentucky area until her retirement in December 2016.
PV is married to Phillip Garber, also a Lutheran pastor who will retire in August. (She mentioned they will actually be able to attend church together!) Their family includes 4 children and three grandchildren. Family is a top priority for her.
Pastor Vicki has led workshops relating to teaching, preaching, spiritual development and evangelism. She has been involved at Trinity Seminary and the Episcopal Church in Kentucky. She also developed a radio talk show, “God Talk for Real Life.” She continues to serve on the ELCA Churchwide Council and as the ELCA representative to the Presbyterian Church-USA.
In her spare time PV enjoys reading, music, camping and needlepoint, but her greatest joy is sharing the Gospel through story.
