Hope's Prayer Shawl Ministry

Have you ever wondered what a prayer looks like? It is warm, soft, and wraps around you. It is a PrayerShawlPrayer Shawl!

They are called "Prayer Shawls” because the knitting (or crocheting) of the shawl is a spiritual practice for the crafter.  While it is being made each stitch is filled with prayers and every time someone savors its warmth, those prayers are felt. It is a gift of God’s love through the skill and the prayers of the person who made it.

Anyone can request and share a prayer shawl from Hope.  Most of the time the recipient of the shawl is not known, but every recipient receives the message that many people have been praying for them and will continue to do so. Each shawl is a blend of prayers, talents, gifts and grace. A prayer is written and included with each shawl. "Prayer Shawls” are gifts freely given with no strings attached. They are not for sale. They are gifts of love.

Prayer Shawls can be used for times of healing; as a comfort after a loss or in times of stress; during bereavement; prayer or meditation; or anytime in life when a person needs help in facing a new day!

Over 35 prayer shawls have been made and given away. That’s 35+ times that the love of God and the prayers of the people of Hope have been shared with others.

If you or someone you know is in need of the comfort or support provided by a Prayer Shawl, please call the Church Office (923-3370) or send an email  to Prayer Shawl Ministry in care of Pastor Lisa Arrington. You do not need to be a member of Hope or of any church. There are no requirements other than the need to experience God’s healing love.
